On behalf of our partners at the City of Angleton Parks & Recreation Dept., the Boys & Girls Club of Brazoria County,\u00a0and Phillips 66, we\u2019re thrilled to share the details and registration for our upcoming Texas Arbor Day Community Planting Event at Abigail Arias Park<\/strong><\/a>. Since our engagement in June, we\u2019ve been working diligently with our local project partners planning this community planting event and the numerous elements involved, particularly the habitat garden design and species palette.<\/p>\n

We invite you (and encourage you to invite others) to join us in honoring the memory of Abigail Arias at Angleton\u2019s newest park this Texas Arbor Day for our 2-day community planting event, installing a habitat garden with over 30 species of native wildflowers and grasses to benefit pollinators, birds, and other wildlife.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll facilitate site prep, layout, and begin install of over 3,000 native plant plugs Thursday, Nov. 5th<\/strong>, with morning and afternoon shifts (9am-12pm; 1pm-4pm),<\/strong> returning Friday, Nov. 6th<\/strong> for the formal community event and installation completion (9am-12pm).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Registration is required at the link below; however, no experience is necessary, and refreshments, gloves, and all necessary tools will be provided!<\/p>\n

Join us as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Texas Master Naturalist – Cradle of Texas Chapter and honor our Charter Members.<\/p>\n

The Texas Master Naturalist \u2013 Cradle of Texas Chapter will be hosting our\u00a025th Anniversary Luncheon on Saturday, November 14, 2026 from 12-2pm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We are excited to welcome our keynote speaker,\u00a0Mary Pearl Meuth<\/strong>, Texas Master Naturalist Program Assistant State Coordinator, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. She will give a presentation about the history of the Texas Master Naturalist organization and its impact.<\/p>\n

Our Chapter President,\u00a0Kathy Pittman<\/strong>, will follow up by reviewing our own chapter’s 25-year history of providing education, outreach, and service within the Brazoria County community and beyond.<\/p>\n

We will also honor our\u00a0Charter Members<\/strong>, to whom we owe gratitude and thanks for their dedication and tenacity in founding our chapter, mentorship in guiding our progress, and continuing service to our community.<\/p>\n

This in-person event will be held at the\u00a0Dude Payne Event Center, Brazoria County Parks Department,\u00a041871 State Highway 288, Angleton, TX 77515<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We will be giving away\u00a0free door prizes<\/strong>\u00a0throughout the event, and hosting a\u00a0raffle for 2 tickets to our Whooping Crane Boat Tour on Friday, December 11, 2026<\/strong>\u00a0(value $160.). Raffle tickets may be purchased with cash on the day of the event for $5 each or 5 for $20. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Cradle of Texas chapter.<\/p>\n

The chapter will provide lunch and beverages for all attendees.<\/p>\n

Registration fees: Free\/COT-members, $15\/non-members*<\/p>\n

After discussions with the staff at the Delores Fenwick Nature Center, we are setting up the THIRD SATURDAY and the preceding Thursday each month as workdays at the wildscape area.\u00a0 \u00a0We will meet 8 am \u2013 11 am ( or whatever time in between that you would like).\u00a0 \u00a0 It\u2019s a great opportunity to see some awesome bird species, visit with the folks out for a walk about the native plant species or the critters in the pond, and get some fresh air.<\/div>\n

Hopefully some volunteers can come during the week and others on Saturdays.\u00a0 \u00a0There will be a volunteer sign up at the Nature center for you to sign in order for the staff to track who is there.<\/div>\n

Bring your hand tools, gloves, water and bug spray, and also waders if you don\u2019t mind going into the water to remove overgrown plants.\u00a0 \u00a0If you want to bring a snack to share, that would be wonderful!\u00a0 The Nature Center staff will provide trash bags and some tools as well.<\/div>\n

These workdays\u00a0will continue each month and is a joint project with the Brazoria County\u00a0Master Gardener Association.\u00a0 \u00a0I hope to see you there! \u00a0 Thank you for your support!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
