Ornithology and Mammals Training

September 30, 2023 @ 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Ornithology and Mammals Training by Bryon Clark.

Sept 30 (Sat) 1:00 to 4:45 pm at Hagerman Multipurpose Room:

  • As you know, Bluestem was able to purchase an impressive collection of nature exhibits through grants from Simmons Bank and Texas Parks and Wildlife, including Birds, Mammal Skins and Skulls, Geology/Fossils, Soils, Weather, and Water Quality.  These exhibits can be used for educational programs in schools (one of the grant deliverables) or in outreach activities such as Farmers Market. This training will prepare you to use the exhibits in teaching/outreach activities.
  • The exhibits are quite expensive and need to be handled carefully, so this training is required if : 1) You will be checking out the exhibits for use in outreach programs; or 2) You will be using the exhibits for assisting with teaching children at Sory Elementary (one of the grant deliverables). If you have any questions about whether you are required to attend this program, contact Matt DeLozier at matt_delozier@att.net.
  • The schedule is Ornithology at 1:00 pm and Mammals at 2:45.  Some of you have already been trained on Mammals and can skip that part of the program.
  • All are welcome, whether or not you plan to use the exhibits.
  • Record your time for Ornithology as AT-Grant Training for TPWD COOP-1.  For Mammals, record as AT-Grant Training SFF-1.  Bryan will also have the reporting information on hand at the training.
