Presented by Jacob Dykes, PhD
Extension Wildlife Specialist, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension
Chronic wasting disease is a fatal neurological disease affecting members of the deer family. In the realm of diseases, CWD is unique in that the disease agent is a non-living deformed protein called a prion instead of a living organism such as a bacteria, virus, or fungus. Due to its highly infectious and fatal nature, there is concern for a decline in deer populations in Texas, and in fact, population declines are occurring in areas across the country.
We will cover:
• The traits of CWD
• The history and status of CWD
• How CWD is transmitted
• Different strategies for managing CWD
This webinar will offer 1 GEN CEU for pesticide applicators in Texas.
