How to become a Texas Master Naturalist™
Initial Training Class (40 hours)
— Initial training includes both classroom and field instruction.
Training takes place at multiple locations and includes field trips to ranches, parks, and other natural areas, giving participants hands-on experience that reinforces each class topic.
Advanced Training (8 hours)
— A minimum of eight hours is required for Initial Certification. A minimum of eight hours is then required each subsequent year to retain the title Certified Master Naturalist.
Advanced Training opportunities are available throughout the year and may be completed through online courses, in-person workshops, seminars, and other educational programs. Additional training opportunities are also offered monthly at chapter meetings, allowing members to continue expanding their knowledge and skills in areas related to natural resource conservation.
With many options for advanced training, you are sure to find a subject you will enjoy.

Volunteer service is at the heart of the Texas Master Naturalist™ program. Members participate in a variety of projects that support conservation, education, and stewardship throughout our communities.
