Stewart Ranch tour in Graham – Jeff Quayle

*This tour is offered by donations. The suggested donation amount is $5; but please donate any amount you believe this special tour is worth. Donations benefit the Native Prairies Association of Texas (conservation & land trust organization) & are non-refundable.

Join us for a tour of a private ranch in Graham, west of Possum Kingdom Lake. Located in the Western Cross Timbers, it is 75 acres of scattered sandy prairie and Post Oak/Blackjack Oak woods with sandstone conglomerate outcrops, dominated by Shin Oaks on the hilltops. We will meet at 8:45am. No restrooms on site. There is a limit of 15 people and 10 cars. The ranch road may not be suitable for small or compact cars. Hitch a ride with someone once on site. Directions will be given upon registration. Your observations will be automatically uploaded to the Stewart Ranch iNaturalist project.

Species expected in this plant community: Selaginella corallina, Echinocereus reichenbachii, Escobaria missouriensis, Coryphantha sulcata, Homalocephala texensis, Escobaria vivipara, Krameria lanceolata, Lechea tenuifolia, Quercus sinuata, Quercus stellata, Quercus marilandica, Monarda fistulosa, Pellaea atropurpurea, Myriopteris tomentosa, Tridens chapmanii, Eriochloa sericea, Funastrum crispum, Hedeoma reverchonii, Quincula lobata, Mimosa aculeaticarpa, Indigofera miniata, Antennaria parlinii, Penstemon laxiflorus and Erigeron modestus.
