iNaturalist has become one of the most popular citizen science platforms to share biodiversity information. In Texas, over 200,000 naturalists have documented 30,000 species in 14 million observations on iNaturalist. One of the highlights of iNaturalist is the verification process from other naturalists. As we post an observation, we may use the computer vision to provide a suggestion of the species, but how can we be certain that it’s the correct ID? In this program, we’ll talk about how we can help our fellow naturalists with the identification process. This act of service not only welcomes them to the naturalist community but also helps us learn and discover along with them. You will learn to ID user observations like a pro and contribute to science with your valuable new skill! AND help us get ready for City Nature Challenge 2026 April 24-27 for observations and April 28-May 10 for identifications. Note Sam Kieschnick and Rachel Grotte (the newest TNT biologist) will join Wendy to help teach us.
Approved for AT. Post time as AT:Miscellaneous approved meetings and lectures.
