Dr. Amanda Adams has worked with bats globally for over 20 years and has been part of Bat Conservation International (BCI) since 2019. As the Director of Research Coordination, she promotes conservation research and builds partnerships to support bat conservation. Artificial light at night (ALAN) disrupts bats’ habitat use; behavior, including activity patterns, flight trajectories, foraging, drinking, and roosting; physiological processes; and survival. Bats’ responses to ALAN are species-specific, but additional complexity is added due to variable responses to lighting technologies, colors, intensities, and exposure duration.
