AT: Aquatic Vegetation Management

July 14, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Texas Water Webinar

Aquatic Vegetation Management

Brittany Chesser

Aquatic vegetation is grouped into four classifications, each having their own positives and negatives, making them an asset or a nuisance in a waterbody, which may ultimately lead to management. In this webinar, we will cover positive and negative impacts caused by aquatic vegetation, including associated water quality, to the surrounding ecosystem; environmental considerations during management selection; and commonly made mistakes during management. Participants will also be directed to additional resources provided by the AgriLife Extension Service.

Being a Delaware native, Brittany Chesser graduated from Delaware State University with her B.S. in Natural Resources and received her M.S. in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture at Mississippi State University working on commercial-scale low-salinity culture techniques for Gulf Killifish. Currently in her role at TAMU, she provides technical expertise on aquatic vegetation management to the general public through identifying specific plant species, recommending correct management practices, and delivering presentations; along with serving as the Lab Specialist for the TAMU Aquatics Diagnostic Laboratory.
