Kachina Prairie
Location: 1816 W Baldridge St. Ennis, Tx 75119
Project Chair: Jim Patak

Kachina Prairie is a 30-acre rare, undisturbed (never plowed) nature preserve in Ennis. It represents both the Blackland prairie eco-system and the southern end of North America tall grass prairie. It is conserved by a coalition of the City of Ennis, the Texas Land Conservancy, Indian Trail Master Naturalists, and the Ennis Garden Club. The prairie has a 3/4-mile dirt trail and is a showcase for native tall grasses and wildflowers. At the prairie the basic rule is “take only pictures, leave only footprints”.
Every spring during the Ennis Bluebonnet Festival, ITMN hosts wildflower walks and talks at the prairie.
