City Nature Challenge 2023

The TPWD Texas Nature Trackers put on a virtual event every year using the iNaturalist app. You are encouraged to make observations within the eligible cities from 4/18 – 5/1.

This event is designed to get people outside and discover nature. The data from the observations may also be used by TPWD staff or graduate students for nature studies.

You can make these observations by yourself or organize a group outing! Check with Laura Clark for a possible field trip.

Note: Because this is a CITY nature challenge, our rural area is not included. There is no reason that you can’t make iNaturalist observations during this time, you just won’t be able to add it to the iNaturalist “project.” If you happen to be traveling and are in a Texas major city, please make sure to add the City Nature Challenge to your list of projects in your iNaturalist observations!
