Volunteer with GTWT Adopt-a-Loop

GTWT Adopt-a-Loop, is a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) program that partners with Texas Master Naturalists (TMN) chapters to monitor wildlife and habitats along the Great Texas Wildlife Trails (GTWT). TMN chapters adopt specific “loops” (driving routes connecting viewing sites) and conduct regular site visits to observe and record wildlife, including Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN), using iNaturalist and eBird. This citizen science effort helps TPWD track wildlife distribution, monitor populations, and update information for nature tourists.

The chapter has adopted two loops within the Prairie and Pineywoods East region of the GTWT. Please click the links below to view the sites on each loop.

  • Texarkana Loop – https://tpwd.texas.gov/huntwild/wildlife/wildlife-trails/ppwe/texarkana-loop

Email notification of Adopt-a-Loops events is sent to chapter members, or you may ask for information about this project by sending an email with the subject “Adopt-a-Loop Volunteer” to the chapter email address (redrivertmn@gmail.com).
