Volunteer at the Northeast Texas Trail and Trail de Paris

The Northeast Texas Trail (NETT) is a 130-mile recreational trail rolling over rural Northeast Texas. The trail is an abandoned railway that ran from Farmersville through Paris to New Boston. The NETT includes four of the counties in our chapter area (Delta, Lamar, Red River, and Bowie).

The Trail de Paris is the portion of the trail that runs through Paris that was adopted by the City of Paris. This portion is paved and includes many improvements, including a Butterfly Garden that the chapter has renovated and maintains.

Help is always needed to maintain the trail within our chapter area. The chapter has built an informational kiosk at the Ben Franklin trailhead in Delta County and help is needed to keep that area of the trail cleared. For the Trail de Paris, volunteers may serve on a Courtesy Patrol through the Paris Police Department. The Butterfly Garden is another opportunity to serve by helping keep it planted, watered and weeded. Other opportunities abound.

Email notification of trail events is sent to chapter members, or you may ask for information about this project by sending an email with the subject “NETT (or Trail de Paris) Volunteer” to the chapter email address (redrivertmn@gmail.com).
