Butterfly Big Day

Butterfly Big Day 2026 will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, and is a worldwide, free, family-friendly event coordinated by the Urban Butterfly Initiative to document butterflies and raise awareness about pollinator conservation. All you have to do is take iNaturalist observations of free-flying, wild butterflies, and join the Butterfly Big Day Project so all of you observations upload automatically. Download the free iNaturalist app for Apple or Android or get a free account to use on your computer (just upload your photos on the computer).

Join the iNaturalist Butterfly Big Day Project.

TMN rules states that AT hours can be logged for identification/curation of observations not on a volunteer’s own property.
