Become a Member

Join us! To become a Certified Texas Master Naturalist and member of the South Plains Chapter, you must submit your application and complete the required training and volunteer hours during the calendar year.

Initial training during your first year:

  • 40 hours of basic training (including field studies) – Typically, we offer training from February through December each year, with the majority of the training held from February through May.
  • 40 hours minimum of Volunteer Service on approved projects in the first year of the start of Basic Training (Note: you must attend at least one training class before beginning volunteer work)
  • 8 hours minimum of approved Advanced Training in the first year of the start of the Training Session
  • First year registration fee/dues, includes the Texas Master Naturalist textbook – $125

Annual requirements to remain active in the South Plains Chapter are:

  • 40 Hours minimum of Volunteer Service on approved projects
  • 8 hours of approved Advanced Training
  • Annual dues – $30

2026 Class Information Meetings:
Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 3:00 pm, Lubbock Lake Landmark, 2401 Landmark Drive
Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 10 am, Lubbock Lake Landmark, 2401 Landmark Drive

Trainings are held at our Chapter Meetings (4th Tuesdays), and at Lubbock Lake Landmark (typically on the first and third Saturday mornings Feb-May), and at Texas Tech University and other sites around the area as scheduled.
