Pollinators & Plants for a West Texas Garden

June 20, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$15

Celebrate National Pollinator Week with the Big Country Master Naturalist
The program will familiarize you with many of the behind-the-scenes workers who are responsible for one out of every three bites of food we eat. Michael Warriner, TPWD Wildlife Biologist, will take us into the world of our Texas native bees, who work daily in our flower beds and vegetable gardens. He will introduce you to the bumble bees, who “buzz pollinateā€ some of our favorite vegetables in our gardens.
Mark Klym, TPWD Wildlife Biologist, and co-author of the book, Hummingbirds of Texas, will lead you through adaptations you can make and to turn your hot West Texas garden into an oasis for butterflies and hummingbirds, using plants that will tolerate our local conditions.
