Westcave Preserve is a hidden treasure in western Travis County. There is a beautiful, but strenuous hike to the Grotto.

History: In 1976 Westcave Preserve Corporation was granted non-profit status. The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) purchased the property in 1983 and formed a partnership with Westcave.
IN 1990 the first visitor center was established. in 2003, the Warren Kaaren Environmental Learning Center opened. The 45 acre Canyon Rim property was acquired in 2008. In 2009, the Children in Nature Collaborative of Austin (CiNCA) launched and became a core program of Westcave in 2012. In 2013 Westcave expanded its vision and changed the name to Westcave Outdoor Discover Center.
