Advanced Training Guidelines
Advanced training is to provide members of the Cross Timbers Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists an opportunity to broaden their knowledge with topics of personal interest. Advanced training provides new and experienced Master Naturalist with tools to work in more advanced volunteer efforts.
Approval Criteria
The Advanced Training opportunity must:
- Promote continued learning and development of naturalist (natural resource related) skills.
- Provide Master Naturalists with knowledge and skills to work in volunteer efforts relevant to the overall mission of the Texas Master Naturalist program.
- Training material based on research-based scientific principles.
- Natural resource information and/or management issues pertinent to the Tarrant and Parker Counties and, more generally, to Texas.
Advanced Training Hours
Advanced training hours are counted one hour for each hour of advanced training; travel time is not included for advanced training hours. CTMN Monthly Meetings – members can only get 1 AT hour.
Suggested Opportunities are listed in the VMS. They will have _AT: or AT: before the opportunity
If a Master Naturalist wish to take an Advance Training Class that is NOT listed under Opportunities, they must get approval to verify whether the criteria meets approved Advancing Training criteria. Approved must be done before attending the class

- All approved projects are listed. Not listed check with the Records Committee before entering hours.
- Volunteer Hours do not have the _AT or AT in front of the opportunity
