GCMN Chapter Meeting

January 4 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

This week’s presentation will cover Memorial Park Conservancy’s new opportunities for volunteers. MPC is the nonprofit tasked with maintaining and improving Memorial Park for all Houstonians. Attendees can expect to learn about the Conservancy’s Master Plan, volunteer opportunities, and ways to get involved. Memorial Park boasts the nation’s largest municipally managed urban forest, and we hope our friends at Texas Gulf Coast Master Naturalists will join us in our mission to restore, preserve, and enhance it.

Kelly McCann is the Program Coordinator at Memorial Park Conservancy, overseeing public programs, park permits, and the volunteer program. Prior to joining MPC, Kelly McCann served as a Centennial Volunteer Ambassador for the National Park Service, supporting the NPS Centennial Initiative by expanding the variety and size of service-learning and community engagement opportunities. In her current role, Kelly loves getting people outdoors and introducing them to new parts of Memorial Park, whether it’s helping to plan the Bayou City Art Festival, Pop-Up Library, or an upcoming volunteer tree planting.
