Training Classes

The Gulf Coast Chapter conducts a 16 week training session in Houston twice a year.

Our training classes take place downtown, at or near the University of Houston – Downtown (UHD) campus.

Our Spring session takes place on Monday mornings with five Saturday field trips.
Our Fall session has Tuesday evening classes with five Saturday field trips.
The training covers classes and field trips in five local ecosystems:

  • Forest
  • Coastal
  • Wetlands
  • Prairie
  • Freshwater (river/pond)

and includes such topics as Ecology, Texas Geology, Climate and Weather, Land Stewardship, Entomology, Mammals and Ornithology.

Our training fee is $175, which includes the course textbook.
