GCMN Fieldtrip – Brazos Bend Red Buckeye Trail

Rescheduled for those who signed up for the March 17 field trip at Brazos Bend State Park.
We will meet at the Visitor Center inside the park, up by the restrooms and front entrance. We will meet between 9:10am and 9:20, and then we will go to our cars and leave for the trailhead at 9:25am.
NOTE: Please allow at least 10-15 minutes from the time you turn off the highway to allow for checking in and driving to the Visitor Center, it takes longer than you might think.
Has everyone made your parking reservation? You don’t want to get turned away.
The trail is about a mile, but depending on how much we look, talk, and photograph, the walk may take about 2 hours.
What to Bring and Wear: Bring water and snacks and wear closed-toe shoes. Consider bringing binoculars, a camera, sun screen, bug spray, hat.
The weather is of concern. We will know better on Friday what might happen, and where and when. I don’t mind getting a little damp, but I don’t want anyone driving in really bad weather and I don’t want us to get caught in a bad storm.
