HPARD – Spruce up Robert C Stuart Park

August 2 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

The Houston Parks and Rec Department Natural Resources team needs help with sprucing up Robert C Stuart Park. Stuart Park is the site of both a coastal prairie restoration and a riparian area restoration along Sims Bayou. It is also an amazing birding location and one of the premier locations on our Central Houston Christmas Bird Count.
HPARD will be refurbishing boardwalks and other amenities for this park in the future, and to help prep for that we need to remove some storm debris, remove invasive species, and do some trail clearing.
We are holding a volunteer workday to achieve this goal, and we need you!
Newbies are welcome. Natural Resources staff will help you learn to identify invasive species compared to native look-alikes, discuss our restoration and management process, and give more info on the work being done along Sims Bayou and across the city to improve our riparian corridors.

Friday, August 2nd from 8:30 – 11:30 am.
Tools, instruction, and ice water provided. The site has lots of shade! Plenty of parking is also available.
Please bring gloves, sun hat, insect repellent, and sunscreen. Wear sturdy, close-toed shoes and long pants.
To sign up please email Berri Moffett at Berri.Moffett@houstontx.gov
