MTBC Bat Workshop

Merlin Tuttle’s Bat Conservation (MTBC) will be partnering with Swift River Pecans, Noble Research Institute, and Bat Survey Solutions to bring a 3-day bat workshop to Central Texas

Along the San Marcos River in Central Texas, we will visit the birthplace of the commercial pecan industry at a unique orchard managed on the edge of ancient pecan groves. This Discovery Workshop showcases a holistic approach towards commercial agriculture that safeguards native soils, water, and wildlife – including bats!

 We will educate and train citizen scientists in field survey techniques including mist netting and acoustics. Participants will have an opportunity to see bats up close and view live echolocation recordings. Registration includes a trip to Bracken Cave, two days of lectures and field trips, a bat house building workshop, a free copy of our latest Bat House Guide, one year of Leadership Membership to MTBC, and meals.
