John Paul Landing Environmental Education Center will be having a Nature Discussion Group on February 24 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., following the regular weekly bird walk starting at 8:30 a.m. This month Mark Froehlich will discuss The Bird Way: A New Look at the How Birds Talk, Work, Play, Parent, and Think by Jennifer Ackerman. This book delves into the extraordinary lives of birds around the world, showing their intelligence, deception, playfulness, culture, and more. Ackerman uses the latest scientific research along with her own experience to explain a variety of bird behaviors, some of which were previously widely dismissed or unexplained.
Nature Discussion Groups are held on the fourth Thursday of each month, and are best suited for adults and older students with a keen interest in nature. Each month we will talk about a different book, article, or topic related to our natural world. These programs are intended to foster discussion, and attendees are encouraged to comment and participate. John Paul Landing Environmental Education Center is located at 9950 Katy Hockley Rd, Cypress 774333. For more information, email johnpaullanding@pct3.hctx.net or call 713-274-3131.
