Rice: The Art of Observation – Seeing and Sketching with a Naturalist

March 20 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$295.00

AT: Other

Anyone who’s successful is really good at noticing their surroundings. The art of observing helps people be more creative in any field. —Dr. Cin-Ty Lee

Reawaken your innate powers of observation by wandering, sketching and journaling on Rice University’s beautiful campus with Dr. Cin-Ty Lee. Dr. Lee is a scientist, a birder, an artist and a photographer who walks our campus almost daily and always sees something new. Slow down and remember how it feels to be as keenly attuned to the world as a young child or an expert naturalist. Tune into the wealth of sights, sounds, scents and sensations that we often overlook. Learn drawing and journaling techniques that scientists and artists use in the field. Explore the flora and fauna of our campus with mini natural history lessons tailored to our discoveries. These interactive experiences are designed to hone your ability to observe and deepen your creativity. Weather permitting, most of the sessions will be held outdoors. This course for artists, writers, nature lovers and people from all walks of life requires no artistic experience.

Section Notes: Limited Enrollment. Fee does not include supplies, approximately $30.

On Campus: This course will be delivered on campus / in person. Parking and room information will be sent prior to the class start date.
