Join us on Friday May 20, 2022, from noon-1 pm for a talk with Viviana Ricardez, the vice president for Texas Turtles, a non-profit organization devoted to the conservation and study of Texas turtles through research. Fueled by her lifelong passion for turtles and herpetology she works tirelessly to study, document, and publish on the ecology and natural history of Texas turtles.
Viviana is active in conservation and research efforts with turtles, traveling across the state of Texas to work on multiple long-term population monitoring studies, and conservation endeavors including organizing the Texas Turtle’s research study sites throughout the state. She is also a member of the IUCN SSC Tortoise and Freshwater Turtle Specialist Group.
Viviana will be covering the incredible diversity of turtles in Austin and the surrounding area. Texas is home to 36 species and 4 endemic species. With all of the four endemics being found in central Texas!
