Bamberger Ranch Preserve

March 11 @ 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

Volunteer Opportunities – March 11th, 12th, & 13th – 5 or more volunteers each day

For three days from March 11th to 13th, the 3rd grade students from Walnut Springs Elementary in Dripping Springs will be making a day trip to the Bamberger Ranch Preserve.  A minimum of 5 volunteers are needed to: 1) lead 8-10 students on the trail from the Madrone Lake patio to the Center; 2) point out interesting things along the way; and 3) help maintain spacing between groups.  The students are scheduled to arrive about 10 am and depart by 1 pm.  Planned activities include: the rain machine demonstration; a 15-20 minute hike from the Madrone Lake patio to the Center; sack lunch; and lessons on dinosaurs, fossils, and bats.  It is anticipated there will be about 75 students and the 3rd graders will be divided into two groups with one group seeing the rain machine and hiking while the other group learns about dinosaurs, fossils, and bats.  Then the groups switch after lunch so that all students will have a chance to experience the full program.  As a result, volunteers will be needed to lead the trail hikes twice – once before lunch and again after lunch. Volunteers should plan to meet in the parking lot of the Margaret Bamberger Research & Education Center (located at 3572 Blue Ridge Drive near Johnson City) by 9:30 am and bring a sack lunch/snack.  If you plan to volunteer, please let me know so I can inform the ranch staff who to expect each day.

Please let me know if there are any questions.  Hope to see you there!
