Bamberger Ranch Preserve

October 15 @ 10:00 am - October 16 @ 1:30 pm

Volunteer Opportunities – October 15th & 16th – 6 or more volunteers needed each day

On October 15th & 16th, the 3rd grade students from Cypress Springs Elementary in Driftwood are making two separate day trips to the Bamberger Ranch Preserve.  A minimum of 6 volunteers are needed on each day to: 1) lead 8-10 students on the trail from the Madrone Lake patio to the Center; 2) use a scavenger hunt list to find interesting things along the way; and 3) help maintain spacing between groups.  The students are scheduled to arrive about 10 am and depart around 1:30 pm each day.  Planned activities include: the rain machine demonstration; a 15-20 minute hike from the Madrone Lake patio to the Center; sack lunch; and lessons on dinosaurs, fossils, and bats.  It is anticipated 70 students will arrive each day and the 3rd graders will be divided into two groups with one group seeing the rain machine and hiking while the other group learns about dinosaurs, fossils, and bats.  Then the groups switch after lunch so that all students will have a chance to experience the full program.  As a result, volunteers will be needed to lead the trail hikes twice each day– once before lunch and again after lunch. Volunteers should plan to meet in the parking lot of the Margaret Bamberger Research & Education Center by 9:30 am on either October 15th or 16th or both and bring a sack lunch.  If you plan to volunteer, please let me know so I can inform the ranch staff who to expect each day.
