Bamberger Ranch Preserve

Volunteer Opportunities – March 25^th to 27^th 

Three sets of 4^th graders from Regents School of Austin are preparing for overnight field trips to the Bamberger Ranch Preserve.  The 1^st set will arrive on March 25^th around mid-morning.  The bus will deliver them to the site of the Historical Marker where they will learn about the ranch.  Then they will visit the neighboring cedar thicket before taking the Bluebonnet Trailer to the Center where they will unpack, learn the rules to be observed during their overnight stay, and eat their sack lunch.  Following lunch, they will tour the ranch before being provided dinner.  The next set of students will arrive the following morning and the 1^st set of students will depart at that time.  This process will repeat itself until the last set arrives on March 27^th and departs on March 28^th.

Volunteers are needed from March 25^th to 27^th to help with dinner and provide hands-on water conservation lessons.  Dinner typically consists of heating a previously made meal and preparing simple salads.  Asking the students about their activities on the ranch is encouraged as a means of reinforcing the day’s lessons.  After dinner, students help with kitchen clean-up and volunteers talk about water conservation while loading the dishwasher.  If time permits, you may include a generic discussion on composting.

Tuesday, March 25^th – Dinner – Arrive by 4-4:30 pm – Meal served by 5-5:30 pm – Need 2 volunteers

Wednesday, March 26^th – Dinner – Arrive by 4-4:30 pm – Meal served by 5-5:30 pm – Need 2 volunteers

Thursday, March 27^th – Dinner – Arrive by 4-4:30 pm – Meal served by 5-5:30 pm – Need 2 volunteers
