Bamberger Ranch Preserve – Maintenance

June 27 @ 7:30 am - 10:00 am

June 27th from 7:30 to 10 am – Groom/refresh the Arboretum nature trail.  This trail needs to have borders straightened, pathway mulched, overgrown vegetation trimmed, dead trees removed, and some plant identification signage removed.  A few volunteers with trucks will collect cedar logs with the ranch staff for use as trail borders.  Some of the trail borders need to be replaced and the recommended tool for this task includes gloves.  Mulch will be provided and spread along the path.  For refreshing mulch, recommended tools include wheelbarrows, shovels, pitchforks, and rakes.  The ranch has some wheelbarrows but more may be helpful.  For trimming overgrown vegetation, recommended tools include loppers, handsaws, and chainsaws.  The ranch staff will identify which trees need to be removed and how that material is to be collected.  Some of the dead wood will be used for specific projects and some will be used for firewood.  For removing dead trees, recommended tools include loppers, chainsaws, pole saws, and sealing paint.  The ranch has some sealing paint but additional cans may make it easier.  For removing signage, recommended tools include screwdrivers and pliers.
