Highland Lakes Native Plant Society Meeting

Beth Erwin, Horticulturist, will present Weed Psychology and Understanding Weeds, are they all badDo you have weeds? Why are they here?  

This presentation qualifies as Master Naturalist AT.

The presentation will follow a 30 minute chapter business meeting.

Erwin will cover these topics.

  • Understanding weeds, how did they get there, prevention, management and control
  • How water, irrigation and rain deliver weeds
  • Weed removal, what methods are most effective and safe, mechanical versus chemical?

Beth Erwin knew she wanted to study plants at age five and has continued her study ever since.   She earned a Horticulture degree with a concentration on Plant Systematics and Plant Taxonomy (the science of classifying and naming plants).

Erwin has over 25 years of experience educating the public on the importance of native plants while serving as the curator of a private nature preserve.  Erwin has presented to many groups on selecting the right native plant for the many areas of the Hill Country.

Beth has held many leadership roles including a charter member of the Louisiana Native Plant Society and as president led the Williamson County Native Plant Society.  Her goal is to help people have success with native plants.
