Educational Outreach-Children and Adult Programs

Educational outreach is an important part of our mission as Master Naturalists. We volunteer in a a variety of places and interact with both adults and children. Sibley Nature Center, Museum of the Southwest/Blakemore Planetarium, Petroleum Museum, I-20 Wildlife Preserve and Community fairs are just a few examples of places we strive to educate the public on topics relating to nature. If you are looking for ideas as an LETMN Member for a booth or project, you are in the right place! If you are a teacher or parent looking for some cool projects for your class or children, you are in the right place! If you are just interested in what kinds of things we do to have fun as a Master Naturalists, you are in the right place!

Texas Arbor Day 2020: Trees of Sibley Kahoot! App

LETMN Members collaborated to help people learn about trees for Texas Arbor Day by taking pictures of trees, their trunks, leaves and fruits and writing creative tree fairy stories! Take a tour of Sibley Nature Center Trees and have fun learning about them through each tree’s special fairy. You can do this by scrolling through information below, or try your hand at our Kahoot! App Quiz/Games on Trees of Sibley Nature Center. Here’s the information you need:

-You don’t need to download anything, just click on the link given and enter the PIN number (you may not have to enter anything, but it’s given just in case).

-There are two Arbor Day Tree quizzes that are meant to be taken while at Sibley Nature Center visiting the trees around the Nature Center building and on the Walking trails (maps are in the apps).  However, you can take it at home.

-It can be taken on your laptop, desktop, iPad or phone.

-It’s a combination of stories, information and pictures followed by timed questions.  It could be taken as a family.

-It is meant to be FUN!  If you miss some questions or run out of time, it’s o.k. No grades will be assigned :).
