I am considering holding the Harris Ranch count on Thursday, July 4, but I need to know if there will be anyone around to participate on that holiday. Holidays are a better time to drive county roads. If not we will push it to later in July, time to be announced later. Contact Kathy if interested.
For new members, North American Butterfly Association has been holding two butterfly counts in North America for over 50 year. These counts are done the same as Christmas Bird Counts. That is, teams count every species and number of butterflies within a 15 mile diameter circle. The Midland Naturalists have been sponsoring the counts for over 30 years. If you don’t know your butterfly species, this is a great way to learn.
