🎤 Member Spotlight: Janet Dawson

Janet is a member of the Prairie Oaks Chapter.

  1. Where were you born? Raised?
    • Garland, TX
  2. Where do you live now?
    • Dublin, TX
  3. Would you care to share with us about your family?
    • I have two sisters, I am widowed, and I have a dog, Annie, and a cat, Gucci
  4. What is/has been your career? Education?
    • I graduated from Texas Tech University and have a degree in Elementary Education and for 23 years and now work in retail and have for several years
  5. What are some of your hobbies?
    • I quilt and make bowl cozies and am looking in to making other crafty items.
  6. To what do you attribute your love of Nature?
    • My Grandfather who owned the land we (my sister and brother in law and I) now live on. I loved coming here and helping with the cows and fishing with my Grandmother.
  7. What was it that interested you in the Texas Master Naturalist program?
    • My sister talking about it and wanting to bring the nature in a natural sense here.
  8. What was it that interested you in the Prairie Oaks chapter?
    • I live in this area and my sister.
  9. What has been your greatest takeaway from the POTXMN experience?
    • Learning the things I didn’t know about the flowers and grasses here. The animals that live here are wild. The interaction of all the living things here.
  10. Describe what would be your perfect, bucket-list natural science encounter or experience.
    • To Visit Yellowstone again and see the wildlife especially the wolves. To also visit many to all of the state and national parks.
