🗒️ Notes from the President: Winter 2023

December 20, 2023 by Layne Cassidy

By: Katie Moses

In November, the Texas Master Naturalist program launched a “Season of Thanks” media campaign to highlight TMN volunteer projects, service, and accomplishments. Participants have had the opportunity to interact with the program’s social media posts to share what they are thankful for, and I encourage you to check it out on the Texas Master Naturalist Facebook page if you haven’t already. In keeping with this theme and the spirit of the season, I want to share with you what I am grateful for. I am so thankful for the volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to the mission of our program. I’m grateful for the family members and public who support our chapter by subscribing to our newsletter, following our Facebook page, or coming to our events. I am thankful for the relationships that I have made in our chapter and for the spirit of collaboration and friendship that I get to witness at each chapter meeting. It is such a joy to look out at the room right before the meeting starts and see attendees sharing ideas, nature sightings, stories, and so forth. I’m proud to be a member of the Prairie Oaks Chapter and to be a part of the Texas Master Naturalist program!

It has been an honor to serve as president over the last three years and I look forward to passing the reins on to Bill so that I can serve in other ways. Thank you for supporting me and for giving me so much to be grateful for!

With gratitude,
Katie Moses

Editor’s Note: Katie has not only been an amazing president, but also set a goal to visit at least 23 Texas State Parks this year during the Texas State Park’s 100 year anniversary. As of December 11, she more than hit her goal by visiting 25 parks, with plans to explore 2 more this month!

Here’s where she has gone this year…Lake Mineral Wells, Cedar Hill, Lake Whitney, Lake Bob Sandlin, Daingerfield Lake, Tyler, Possum Kingdom, Meridian, Ray Roberts Lake-Isle du Bois Unit, Mother Neff, Abilene, Martin Creek Lake, Lake Brownwood, Inks Lake, Cleburne, Meridian, Fort Richardson, Dinosaur Valley, Lake Mineral Wells, Blanco, Bentsen Rio Grande, Estero Llano Grande, Resaca de la Palma, Lake Corpus Christi, and Purtis Creek.
