Our Spring 2024 Training Class kicked off in January and will conclude in April. The training class has learned from speakers about geology, insects, famous master naturalists, law and ethics, aquatic resources, and more. Both Tarleton students and community members attend the training class.
Trainees have also enjoyed getting to know other members of the training class and current Prairie Oaks chapter members. We are excited for these future master naturalists!
The insect presentation really grabbed my attention; the instructor’s thoroughness and humor made the surprising fact that every pound of human weight equals 300 pounds of insects quite memorable.
Marsha’s presentation on mammals, especially bats, got me excited about the upcoming bat monitoring project (https://txmn.org/prairieoaks/event/advanced-training-webinar-acoustic-monitoring-of-texas-bats/) and left me intrigued about species trends.
