🐦 POMN CBC 2024 invitation to Join teams

June 2, 2024 by Layne Cassidy

Hello birding friends,

Getting to the end of the year and needing some more volunteer hours to hit your  goal for 2024? Any birders that just have been waiting to wrap the year up with a  great birding event? Well, if either applies to you I’ve got GREAT NEWS!  Audubon’s 125th Christmas Bird Count (and Prairies Oaks Chapter 7th year  participating) will be held December 14,2024 from 8am to 4 pm and we’re asking  you to join our teams.

In the past we have had the pleasure of not only Prairie Oaks Chapter of the Texas  Master Naturalist Program but our neighboring chapters Cross Timbers and Rio  Brazos, as well as community members join us and we are extending the invitation  once again for ALL to contact me and let me know if you would like to be added  to our teams for 2024.

You don’t have to be an expert birder to participate. The teams are made of  spotters, recorders, drivers/navigators, lead birder, and photographers. So there are  choices for everyone joining a team. We are hoping for 20 to 25 volunteers again  this year. We do need at least one good birder on each team to provide/confirm  positive id.

Information and materials will be provided to each team on the day of the event  and more details will be shared as final plans are made.

Please contact Chris and  Dayna Inbody to let them know if you are interested in joining this year so  they can start putting together the teams. The contact information is  inbodyd@gmail.com. If you have any suggestions or questions please let them  know.

If you are a member of the Prairie Oaks chapter this is an approved project and can  be logged under VMS FR: Bird Populations specify location and activities in  “Describe your service” when you report NAS CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT  (POMN).

Look forward to seeing you soon,

Dayna Inbody
