2023 Audubon Christmas Bird Count

It’s that time of the year again… 2023 Audubon Christmas Bird Count with the Prairie Oaks Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist Program.

We will hold our chapter’s Christmas Bird Count Saturday December 16, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  We are looking for volunteers at this time to make up our teams. You don’t have to be an expert birder to participate. The teams are made of spotters, recorders, drivers, birders and photographers. So there are choices for everyone in joining a team. We are looking for 20 to 25 volunteers again this year. We do need at least one good birder on each team to provide a positive id.

Information and materials will be provided to each team on the day of the event and more details will be shared as final plans are made.  Please contact Chris and Dayna Inbody to let them know if you are interested in joining this year so they can start putting together the teams. This is an approved POMN chapter event and can be logged under VMS FR: Bird Populations specify location and activities in “Describe your service” when you report NAS CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT (POMN, Proctor Lake, etc). Anyone looking for hours at the end of the year and contributing to a citizen science project please join us.
