Our program will be “Wildlife, Agriculture and Aquaponics”, presented by Ashley Medeiros.
Ashley Medeiros grew up in Dublin, Texas on the family farm. Modest living and frugality led her to pursue a degree in sustainability. She was a student of the Spring 2019 TXMN training class at Tarleton State University and continues to volunteer for the Prairie Oaks Chapter. Ashley has an Associate of Arts Degree from Tarrant County College, a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife, Sustainability, & Ecosystem Science and a minor degree in Nutrition from Tarleton. Ashley will have a Master of Science Degree in Agriculture & Natural Resource Science in May 2021. She is the first student to research aquaponics at Tarleton and hopes to bring more awareness to the field.
Ashley’s presentation, Wildlife, Agriculture, & Aquaponics, will discuss how current agriculture and changes in the American diet has pushed wildlife to the brink. She will discuss ways to reduce our ecological footprint and finish with an in depth look at her ongoing aquaponics research.
