7:00 pm – Program: “Cross Timbers Flora and River Plant Communities”,
Dr. Allan Nelson will describe his research on characterizing the species of plants present in association with creeks and rivers and in other landscape settings in the Cross Timbers region of Texas, and the ecological relationships that structure those plant communities. The program is sure to give participants a more comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the plant diversity of bottomland woodlands in our area. This work has been published in several scientific journals, including the Southwestern Naturalist and Texas Journal of Science. Dr. Nelson holds a PhD in Plant Systematics from the University of Oklahoma and a MST in Biology from Tarleton State University.
