Pull out your outreach boxes or create a new one of your very own!
POMN has been approved/invited by the LISD administration to present an onsite direct outreach program to the 3rd, 4th, & 5th grades at Lingleville ISD.
Prior to COVID, LISD was the first school outreach that POMN prepared and presented. It was a huge success! Since that COVID pause, coupled with the elevated school/student safety requirements, LISD PTO has been fortunate to receive several grants enabling them to build new or restore existing native plant and pollinator landscapes at locations around the campus, as well as 13 raised bed vegetable garden containers at the C.A.T.E. building.
This past September, the LISD PTO was awarded a Reaching for Excellence $10,000 grant from the Texas Dept. of Health -School Health and Safety. As part of this grant, a new outdoor classroom/pavilion is currently being constructed. The LISD PTO, of which I am a member, is inviting POMN members to be a part of our inaugural ribbon cutting event, scheduled for Wednesday, May 10th from 12 PM to 3 PM.
As a member of both of these organizations, I am seeking POMN members willing to join this effort. We would need 6 different investigative, instructional stations of no more than 25 minutes each. You would make 4 presentations to 4 different groups of students ranging in number from 11 to 16 students, allowing a rotating break for presenters to reboot and take a breath. Ideally, POMN members would form up with 2-4 friends and become the specialists in one specific TMN focus area.
