Chapter Business Meeting at 6 pm
Speaker at 7 pm – Karen Aho
Diving in with Aquatic Macroinvertebrates!
Are you curious about the world beneath the water’s surface? We will be exploring the world of
aquatic macroinvertebrates– from amazing adaptations to their role in water quality assessment,
and the wealth of resources you can use to teach others about these unique critters.
Karen Aho is an avid nature-lover and has spent much of her life educating others about the world around them. She began her career in her home state of Pennsylvania running the environmental education program at a camp, where she managed a staff of Naturalists and coordinated environmental programs for local school children, retreat groups, and campers. After moving to Texas Karen spent time working in philanthropy and fundraising, but has recently found her way back to full-time environmental education work. This past spring she joined the Environmental Engagement team at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center as an Environmental Engagement Specialist, assisting with conservation programming and serving as volunteer coordinator. She is also an adjunct instructor for Tarleton State University’s Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources.
