Palo Pinto State Park Volunteer Opportunity
Duration: End of April – Possibly one weekend in May
Start: 9AM – 1PM
Task: Trail Development
- Drag or remove tree trunks, limbs, rocks, etc down the trail on a mesa from debris piles
- Trails are rough and raw
- Trail crews have been making 1/10 th of a mile of progress in 4 hours.
- Janis stressed that it was strenuous work, but much needed help!
Needed Equipment:
- Long sleeves
- Gloves that cover the wrist
- Safety Glasses
- Over the Ankle Boots
- 1 Gal Water
- Backpack – snacks, food, first aid kit, etc
- Electrolytes – if a heavy sweater
- Snake gaters are provided
Availability: 3 Volunteers + Janis make up the trail crew
- Volunteers will go out on a UTV with Janis to the trail

- 3 Volunteer Spots Available: April 19, 21, 26, 28

- Make sure to include your name, email, and phone number.
- She will email you the night before as a reminder of your volunteer time and what equipment is
needed.
- *This email will go to Janis Janes even though it may state the president’s name, Danny Miller. She is
the secretary and in charge of the trail volunteer crews.
- *All trail maintenance will end at the end of April or First of May due to Golden Cheek Warbler mating
season. Further trail development will start back up in September. They will need volunteers to help
clear 2.5 miles of trails around the lake to the river.
