VO: Comanche County 4H Program – New Outreach Volunteer Opportunity 🗣️

September 17, 2024 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Marsha Stephens has been contacted by a Comanche County AgriLife Extension Program Assistant (Amanda Jackson) requesting a presentation for the Comanche County 4H program on Tuesday, September 17. This is another great opportunity to expand our chapter’s presence in one of our other service counties (and potential for TMN recruitment of parents attending with their 4H’ers)! Marsha has agreed to develop and present a program, but because of the wide age range of 4H participants (grades 1-7), the effectiveness of the effort would be improved by having at least one (and more if possible) volunteers from our chapter to participate. In particular, it would be helpful to have the younger children (grades 1-3) meeting in a separate room with one or more volunteers who could present a simplified description of Texas Master Naturalists (and naturalists in general) followed by an age-appropriate activity, using some of the existing materials and content for outreach that we already have available. This would allow for a more advanced presentation on TMN, and a different structured activity for the older participants.

The requested program would extend 30-45 minutes, beginning at 6:00 pm, at the Extension offices in Comanche. If you would be interested in participating in this volunteer opportunity, contact Marsha at [email protected]. If anyone volunteering has a favorite activity (among our existing outreach materials) we will go with that as first-priority to made the preparation simpler. Up to 3 volunteers could ride to and from the event with Marsha, first come, first
seated (beginning and ending in Stephenville).
