Fall Socially Distant Bioblitz

September 5, 2021 - September 11, 2021

Have some fun and meet some challenges participating in the iNaturalist Second Annual Fall Bioblitz for the DFW urban ecosystem! This is something you can do on your own or with friends/family of your choosing in your back yard, along a trail, in a park, or anywhere outdoors (with permission for access where needed, of course). Try to meet a new nature observation challenge each day: Sun. – mammal tracks; Mon. – meaning of the scientific name of an observed species; Tues. –  spider with different shaped eyes; Wed. – observe a fungus with a spore print; Thurs. – observe a bird with a sense of smell; Fri. – insect with the color purple; Sat. – invasive plant with complete root system showing, i.e., yank it out!

You don’t need to be a Master Naturalist to do this; EVERYONE is invited to participate. That said, it’s a competition, of sorts, among several North Texas master naturalist chapters. See who can get the most observations! Sign up for the RBMN project page here. Learn more about the umbrella project here. Read the “rules” and other helpful info on the project journal page. You don’t need to be a Master Naturalist to do this; EVERYONE is invited to participate.
