This is the first 2023 Acton Nature Center Community Lecture of four in a series to be offered to the public through the year. Lectures are nature-oriented and offered the first Sunday of January, April, July, and October at 2:00 PM at the Opal Durant Community Center (aka, the Acton Library).
For this lecture, local biologist Dr. Billy Teels will present Protecting and Restoring Backyard Habitats. He will base his talk on information in Douglas Tallamy’s best-selling book, Nature’s Best Hope, and will provide insights into creating backyard habitats to help mitigate the tremendous loss of natural habitats both locally and worldwide. He will talk about the best species of plants to create habitat in our own backyards and explain how to overcome some of the institutional constraints that limit our ability to create backyard habitats.
