To request an event or opportunity to be posted on the calendar, please complete our Calendar Entry Request form. (Link opens in new page.) Please submit your event at least 2 weeks in advance of the event date and allow at least 48 hours for new events to appear on the calendar once they’ve been submitted.
Chapter members: Check the state TMN website (link opens in new page) for other training and volunteer opportunities offered through the state office or other chapters.

Join Texas Land Conservancy (TLC) every other Tuesday evening until October 15 at Malone Preserve in Rio Vista to do some light work on the trails– remove debris, and trim back branches and new growth. The Education Committee plans and develops educational events and services to the chapter and our communities. Examples include public events at Acton Nature Center and our partner parks, nature education for homeschool programs, special educational activities for local schools, field trips, and more. All members, guests, and visitors are invited to the chapter’s monthly meetings. Each meeting starts with a potluck (dinner on us for guests and visitors), followed by a speaker and the business meeting. Chapter members: Lead groups of students and parents through stations around Acton Nature Center. This month's topic: Trail safety and first aid. Record hours under "Home School Children: TMN Report Hours" and enter "Led children at ANC First Friday Homeschool". Include drive time in your hours.
Free Public event. This is a citizen science monthly bird count recorded in eBird. Walk starts in the parking lot and goes to the bird blind and along trails from there. Masks and social distancing encouraged. Recommended: Binoculars, camera, water, hiking shoes, and clothing suitable for the weather.
Chapter members: Advanced Training on a variety of topics in preparation for volunteering at the Monarch Fest event in October. Topics will include migration, tagging, lifecycle details and more. Sessions will be Saturday morning, September 7. Actual start time TBD but will be updated closer to the September event.
Keep Burleson Beautiful is the catalyst organization that combines all nature organizations working with the City of Burleson Parks Department in a reporting meeting that recurs monthly. All interested persons are welcome to attend. Texas Master Naturalist, Rio Brazos Chapter members serve on the Board.
Friends of Acton Nature Center (FANC) meet every second Wednesday to discuss, review, and plan tasks and projects for maintaining the native character of the nature center, along with maintaining facilities and offering educational opportunities.
