Chapter members Nancy, Rick, Marilyn and Jaclyn formed a team for The Great Texas Birding Classic this year. They called themselves the “Trill Seekers”. They entered in the All Ages: State Park Tournament – Intact Flock division and competed with observations at both Village Creek State Park and Sea Rim State Park.
Although they didn’t win, place or show, in the birding count performance, their team name truly did shine like a trophy among the 187 teams registered. Trill Seekers was selected for the “Make Me Smile” Award for teams with names that brightened the tournament coordinator’s day when they came through the registration process. Green versions of this year’s t-shirts go to all team members on these teams, so all the teammates can truly say of their efforts is “and all we got is this t-shirt!”
Organizers said this prize category was added in 2013 and as long as you keep making us laugh, we’ll continue to award your creativity, play on words, and puns.
