In fitting news for Halloween, Sabine Neches Chapter member, Sharon Odegar, is also a member of the Native Plant Society of Texas and submitted an article about the NPSOT booth that exhibited at our “Champions for Nature” event at the South Texas State Fair this past spring. Her overview “Native Plants at South Texas State Fair” was published in the Fall 2022 issue of “Texas Native Plants” which is the Official Publication of the Native Plant Society of Texas produced quarterly.
The NPSOT booth featured carnivorous plants from our region, with actual living specimens of sundew (Dosera brevifolia), Bladderwort (Ultricularia radiate) and a Butterwort (Pinguicula ionantha) located by chapter member, Nancy Angell. In addition, some interactive games were developed for children to get involved in the functionality of these carnivorous plants.
