Big Thicket Day

BTA’s annual meeting and awards presentation will be held at the Beaumont Country Club from 9 am to 11 am (adjacent to Collier’s Ferry Park). Rodney Franklin, Texas State Parks Division Director of Texas Parks & Wildlife will be the the keynote speaker.

Big Thicket Day on the Neches, hosted by the Big Thicket Association will be held at Collier’s Ferry Park, 5390 Pine Street, in Beaumont. Activities in the park are from 10 am to 2 pm.

FREE event

Big Thicket Day is a FREE event that is open to the public and will offer an opportunity for families to visit the preserve and celebrate the creation of Big Thicket National Preserve.

Live Entertainment by “The Trio”

 “The Trio” consists of Ray Ward, Mike Magnuson, and Keith Kyle. Ray Ward has been playing music in the Beaumont and surrounding areas for over 50 years. He plays a wide variety of musical genres including rock, blues, country, easy listening, to name a few. Mike Magnuson is a Southeast Texas singer/songwriter. Mike’s love for music started as a teenager playing in 70’s rock bands, but his love for country music soon won out. Mike has performed on stages all across Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana for more than 40 years. Keith Kyle, from Orange, played in local bands before moving to Houston to attend UT Dental School. He has practiced dentistry in his hometown since 1977 and began playing music again in 2006.

Boat Rides on the Ivory Bill & More!

Visitors will be treated to free boat rides aboard the Ivory Bill. In the park, Native American Dancers will preform, and Philip the Falconer will have a hawk  demonstration. There will be activities for the entire family including kid’s activities such as a Kid’s Fish. Stable Spirit will have horses there to pet and groom. There will be booths by area conservation organizations with more activities. Big Thicket authors will have autographed books available for you to purchase.
