Big Thicket Flash Mob Cleanup

December 21, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Big Thicket National Preserve is excited to announce the location of the December 21st “flash-mob” clean up. This month, volunteers will focus on the Holly Grove Day Use Area in the Menard Creek Corridor Unit of the preserve, located in Polk County. Volunteers should meet at 10 am on Saturday, December 21st, for a short safety briefing before the start of the event. The clean-up will finish at noon.

The term “flash-mob” describes a large gathering where people perform an unusual or seemingly random act and then dispersing. The preserve’s Flash-Mob clean-up is a short volunteer event for the public to participate in and help the preserve look more beautiful. The Holly Grove Day Use Area is located off of FM 2728 between Votaw and Segno, Texas. Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and long sleeves. Preserve staff will supply trash bags, trash grabbers, and plastic gloves.

Big Thicket National Preserve is excited to announce the start of a new monthly volunteer effort, geared towards cleaning the day-use areas and river access points found throughout the park. This monthly event will take place on the third Saturday of each month and focus on a different day use each time. Volunteers will meet at 10 am to start with a short safety briefing before the clean-up activities begin, and wrap-up around noon.
